Hoosiermama? Family,
Back in January we wrapped up the first season of the IMUF Men's Group, and we're really pleased to share that it was more than we could have imagined. The group was originally planned to meet for six bi-weekly sessions, but the members chose to meet another six to keep the conversations and connection going. To share what it was like for the Mama?s in the group, we wanted to hear directly from one of them. Jesse Roehm attended every one of the 12 sessions, and his reflection says more about what the group meant than anything we could. Read it here: |

I attended all 12 sessions of the IMUF Men’s Group, and if I’m being honest, there were plenty of Sundays when I didn’t feel like logging on. After long weekends parenting two one-year-olds, the idea of two hours on a Sunday night sounded exhausting. But every single time, I was glad I showed up.
What I found was a group of men willing to lean all the way in. The conversations were honest in a way that’s rare in everyday life – about things like our relationship with alcohol, sexual intimacy, identity, parental relationships and the quiet struggles many of us carry.
I’m in a season of life that feels like a big transition: balancing a full-time job with parenthood, figuring out who I am after competitive frisbee, and trying to keep up with everything adulthood throws at you. In the group, I felt heard and seen in a way that was deeply grounding.
What surprised me most was the level of trust that formed. I shared things I don’t usually talk about, and the group held that space with real care. By the end, I had deepened relationships with Mama?s I already knew and built new friendships with Mama?s I had barely met before.
It was one of the most meaningful experiences I've ever had.
